A UK-based engineering solutions company has recently taken delivery of an N330 portable vibrometer and dynamic balancer and an AL-30/AL-10 laser alignment device from CEMB Hofmann UK.
Based in Willenhall, West Midlands, Webb-Elec Ltd has been in business for 35 years and specialises in the supply, repair and distribution of geared motors and a wide range of power transmission, fluid, and air movement equipment.
Both portable units are an important component of the company’s on-site support services, which include diagnostics, removal, repair, and re-installation of gearmotors, pumps, fans, air handling units and electric motors.
The AL-30/AL-10 laser alignment device has already been used by the company to carry out on-site alignment procedures for rotating machinery, an essential part of good plant maintenance to increase the longevity of components.
The N330 portable vibrometer and dynamic balancer is designed to enable engineers to identify vibration issues while at their customers’ premises. It is already being used to carry out on-site diagnostics on a variety of machines and components, helping Webb-Elec’s customers to pursue proactive and preventative maintenance routines to help limit downtime and extend machine life.
The recent portable equipment purchases follow the installation in 2018 of a ZB750/TC/GV belt drive horizontal machine from CEMB Hofmann UK. Installed at Webb-Elec’s workshop facility in Willenhall, the machine offers fast and accurate dynamic balancing of rotors up to 1,100kgs. The company is using the machine to balance a variety of electrical and mechanical components and helps to deliver a 24-hour emergency service when needed.
Tony Bushell, Technical Manager at Webb-Elec comments: “Demand for our services was increasing considerably and as our on-site support is a key offering, we needed to make an investment in some new equipment. From our previous experience with CEMB Hofmann UK, we know their engineers to be knowledgeable and we liked that they were able to offer comprehensive training and diagnostic support. This, added to the fact that their machines are of very high quality, and their support service is UK-based, meant that engaging them for our new requirements was a relatively easy decision.”
